We change the world. Every day, in a hundred different ways.
Warren Vidic to Desmond Miles, regarding Abstergo

Abstergo Industries is a multinational corporate conglomerate, and the primary front for the modern day activities of the enigmatic Templar Order who seek to establish a New World Order that improves human livelihood and brings about eternal world peace but through rather militant methods. It originates from the 2007 video game series Assassin's Creed.

Overview[]

Abstergo Industries, and its predecessors, were responsible for the majority of human technological development for the past millennia.

Despite genuinely contributing to the technological development of society, Abstergo Industries' primary mission, as dictated by its Templar members, was "the destruction of the Assassin Order, the procurement of advanced technologies originally created by the First Civilization, and establishing a New World Order".

Officially founded in 1937, Abstergo Industries was actually one small part of the Templar plan to guide and control human history through capitalism and scientific progress. Abstergo's origins lay in the perfection of the assembly line by Templar leaders Henry Ford and Ransom "Ranny" Olds, at the turn of the 20th century with aid from fellow prominent Templar members such as Thomas Edison, whose innovative genius proved a huge boon for the Templar cause. The assembly line was an early means to control both workers and the capitalists who employed them, representing the first step in the Templars' goal to control the world through economics.

In the year 2012, Abstergo Industries had expanded into multiple business sectors, setting up many subsidiary companies to further their goals, such as Abstergo Entertainment which allowed Abstergo to established a foothold within the entertainment industry, mainly through cinema and video games. In the same year, Abstergo Industries had come under investigation by the United States government for the "New Fluoride" experiment and was due to have its accounts frozen, prompting the company to hasten their planned Eye-Abstergo satellite launch.

Products[]

  • Angelus - A nanotech implant for infants linked to a baby monitor bracelet that allows parents to keep full track of their child's metal state at all times. In truth, Angelus is used to manipulate an infant's hormone levels and brain functions from birth, and decrease negative behavioral traits and hostility.
  • Animus - A virtual reality system and Abstergo's most noted creation. It allows the user to read a subject's genetic memory and then allow the subject to experience the memories of their ancestors as though they had actually lived through it themselves. These genetic memory experiences can then be projected onto a screen for study. In truth, Animus was created in order for Abstergo to learn more about the Assassin's Order through their descendants and use the data against them.
  • Animus Omega - A successful video game console created with pre-packaged genetic memories experiences to serve as games, with these pre-packaged memory games also serving as a means to make the populace look upon Abstergo and the Templars more favorably.
  • Animus OS Glasses
  • Bodyband
  • Devils of the Caribbean - A feature-length pirate film produced by Abstergo Entertainment which was in actuality pre-recorded footage of the genetic memories of the infamous pirate Edward Kenway which were taken from an Animus session. However, all mention of Kenway's involvements with the Assassins were edited out.
  • Helix - A software system in the form of a virtual reality game console which catalogued information on the Templars and the Assassins and allowed users to play through them via missions. The headsets used with Helix were used to catalogue the genetic information of the players.
  • Herne+ - Food supplement laden with chemicals used to make the general populace more lax and easier to control.
  • Ibuprofen
  • New Fluoride - A new form of toothpaste which Abstergo tested on a small town that was completely oblivious to the experiment and which presumably also contained chemicals that would help to make the population more compliant. Unfortunately, New Flouride was a catastrophic failure and ended up poisoning its test subjects, with one Abstergo employee nervously remarking that "shit's really hit the fan this time" in a private company e-mail.
  • Pirates of Nightmares - A video game by Abstergo Entertainment that like with Devils of the Caribbean, it was also made using the genetic memory footage of Edward Kenway.
