Burger World

Burger World (aka Big Edna's Burger World and Burger World Inc.) is a fast food franchise introduced in the 1988 music video "Fat" and the 1989 film UHF both by Weird Al Yankovic which has made subsequent appearances in the Beavis and Butt-Head franchise.

Overview[]

Burger World is a rather generic fast food restaurant chain that serves your standard burgers, fries, drinks etc.

Tulsa Burger World[]

Burger World

The original Burger World from UHF

The Burger World in Tulsa is a retro 1950's style diner and seemingly the first one, owned and managed by Big Edna, who has her name over her Burger World logos. All employees wear identical uniforms with red shirts, black pants and red caps bearing the logo of the Burger World. It was here where lowly minimum wage worker George Newman would last be fired, after numerous dismissals from past jobs, and from there was able to move onto become the head of his very own television studio after many trials and much good fortune.

Highland Burger World[]

Burger World - Beavis & Butt-Head

The Burger World in Highland from Beavis and Butt-Head

The Burger World in Highland is a rather unassuming restaurant at first glance but is actually home to some of the worst fast food customer service anyone will ever find, courtesy of its two disastrously irresponsible employees Beavis and Butt-Head who are well known for serving up tainted food or just dead animals they dipped in the fryer and claimed were onion rings. They inflict all manner of damage to the interior of Burger World as well as giving their customers food poisoning due to ignorance or just for laughs. How this Burger World remains in business or how its two notorious employees haven't been fired yet is one of the great mysteries of Burger World.

Burger World HQ[]

Burger World Inc HQ

Burger World Inc. International Headquarters

The Burger World Inc. International Headquarters is the central office building for the Burger World franchise where all of its executives and office workers manage the day-to-day business affairs for the company, as well as finding dishonest ways to avoid company controversies. It is a large building located in an unnamed city.

Staff[]

Big Edna[]

Big Edna, founder of Burger World

Big Edna, founder of Burger World

Big Edna is the original namesake, founder and manager of the first Burger World in Tulsa, and former employer of the television director, George Newman. A incredibly large and temperamental woman with little tolerance for slackers or insults, she will dish out harsh punishment with her impressive strength. When George Newman and his friend Bob Steckler were employed at her restaurant, she grew increasingly impatient with the duo after they continually burned her food and George even began insulting her behind her back, calling her a "pathetic tub of lard". With her anger at its peak, she grabbed the two employees (even though Bob did nothing wrong) and promptly threw them out of the restaurant (literally), throwing them clear over the parking lot. Her restaurant eventually became a major corporation, either due to expansion or being bought out from her.

Board of Directors[]

Burger World Board of Directors

The Burger World Board of Directors

The Board of Directors are the head executives of Burger World after it presumably became a major franchise. Burger World's executives are a notorious bunch who will do anything to preserve the image of Burger World, even bribing to keep quiet about the quality of their food. They even bribed their own employees Beavis and Butt-Head to keep quiet about Burger World's food causing them severe weight-gain by giving them lifetime gift cards to the restaurants of their taco-making rivals, so as to have Beavis and Butt-Head pass the blame onto them. Like most wealthy chief executives, the Burger World CEO has his own private limo and jet.

Tulsa Burger World[]

  • Big Edna - Manager of Burger World.
  • George Newman - Former fry cook at Tulsa's Burger World. A frequent day dreamer with big ambitions, but whose constant trips to Cloud 9 made him lose track of his work, resulting in frequent dismissals and burning the food at Burger World until it became charcoal. After being fired, Mr. Newman was able to become the station manager of the successful TV station U-62.
  • Bob Steckler - Former fry cook and George's best friend who became George's right-hand man at his studio after their dismissal.

Highland Burger World[]

  • Manager - The unnamed and kindly manager of the Highland Burger World who was completely oblivious to the irresponsible behavior of his employees.
  • Beavis & Butt-Head - The two most notorious and highly reprehensible employees at Burger World. A pair of rogue teenagers who sow chaos wherever they go and have on multiple occasions ruined Burger World's reputation and contaminated its food. Despite this behavior, almost all of their misdeeds go unnoticed.
  • Unnamed crew member - Unnamed cashier and drive-thru attendant who only appears in Beavis and Butt-Head: Virtual Stupidity. Was driven out of Burger World by Beavis and Butt-Head.

Trivia[]

  • A sign outside of the first Burger World in UHF shows the restaurant's phone number as "834-2558".
  • The real filming location for Burger World was in a restaurant at Tulsa, Oklahoma which has gone through several names over the years, most notably Knotty Pig BBQ Burger & Chili House and Billy Ray's Catfish and BBQ.
  • The design of the first Burger World logo is based on the original McDonald's logo from the 1950s, specifically the face of its first mascot Speedee.
  • Mike Judge, creator of Beavis and Butt-Head has said that the Burger World franchise seen in Beavis and Butt-Head is taken from the Weird Al Yankovic film UHF, with Judge even giving his lead characters the same outfits Yankovic's character wore in the film to strengthen the connection.
  • Its design in Beavis and Butt-Head is an obvious parody of McDonald's, featuring an upside-down yellow 'W' as an obvious nod to McDonald's and even having the same famous double mansard roof as McDonald's.
  • Highland Burger World's drinks, Spit and Dr. Poop are an obvious spoof on Sprite and Dr. Pepper.
  • There are several real life Burger Worlds in America which operate as small independent restaurants and mobile stands which have nothing to do with the Burger World seen in media.
